WES timeline for 2018

Hi, I am also in the same boat as you are. The last update I got was on 6th and 12th which was the same update which states that We received your documents and we are reviewing your documents. I had also sent my documents on 4th of the month. I checked with one of the consultants and he said that 20 days count starts from the day WES receives the documents. If that is true, I feel my evaluation should be done by 3rd of Oct.. He also said that currently they are taking anywhere from 4-7 weeks for evaluation.. I hope none of us have to wait for 7 weeks!!

It's taking six weeks easily for people who submitted documents last week of August - we recently received completion date updates. And the updates are slow you'll need a lot of patience. It sucks I know - I only hope they don't mess up the evaluation that will seriously piss me off.

oh ok.. then I think it would safe to assume that people who applied in the month of Sept will possibly get the eca latest by Oct 2nd week..

Also does any one if WES recognizes only certain degrees for Canadian Equivalency? I heard that sometimes even a Masters Degree if it doesn't meet Canadian Standard may not be recognized or might be recognized as a bachelor's degree or may be a double bachelors? I am not really sure how accurate this info is, but I would appreciate if someone can shed some light on this..

I don't think it is random - I read somewhere that they look at factors like course length, coursework (hours), minimum credits to see if it intensive enough to be a master's. I'll get the ECA on the 3rd of October ... there's time! Documents reached them on 20th August - that's the current timeline.

I've heard that too and it's my biggest concern right now. I've only submitted my Australian Master's - and if I get any other result that's going to be a problem. I don't think it is random - I read somewhere that they look at factors like course length, coursework (hours), minimum credits to see if it intensive enough to be a master's. Not able to find proper data on this though.

Same here..I havent been able to find info as well... I have two Masters from US.. I just hope that they are well recognized...

I have a masters from Singapore and I've had friends of mine who've gotten their degrees assessed as masters. So hopefully it should be ok for us too I guess.

There is a free WES credential evaluation tool through which you can get an idea what value your degree has in Canada. Rest the final decision is WES’s. I am not sure whether they consider marks/degree into consideration.
I my case I am double masters as well. However, in the website my MBA from UK is getting masters whereas MSC (maths) from PU is getting bachelors. It is so surprising as I have got distinction in maths. So I am eagerly waiting for 28th September when I will get my ECA

ok.. Does that mean that any MS degree from US is worth a bachelors in Canada? Because in US most masters degrees are MS and very few universities offer Masters in Engineering..

The reason I ask that question, is both MS and MSc stand for Master of Science even though both the degrees are completely different..
