Hi

We had sent our spousal sponsership inland application on 28th March 2018. I got my OWP on 12th July and it is valid till Dec 2018 (because old passport was valid till december). I have uploaded the renewed passport through webform.

What do you think should be my next steps - filing for an extension of work permit or waiting that I might get my PR before Dec 2018?

Thanks in advance!

In 6 months mark, you may get required for Medical Examination, and you won't get the PR before Dec, you may get it next March.

I wouldn't wait...just in case. I mean you have implied status so even if december passes you can legally stay within the country until your PR comes through, but if that isn't an option I would apply for an extension in september

Hello Everyone,

Perhaps many already know this, but I would like to share this bit of information to those that may not know.
Since we are Spousal Sponsorship IN-LAND applicants, we are able to (regarding physical presence required for applying for Citizenship down the road):

"You may be able to use some of your time spent in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person towards your physical presence calculation. Each day spent physically in Canada as a temporary resident or protected person before becoming a permanent resident within the last 5 years will count as one half day, with a maximum of 365 days, towards your physical presence.

Temporary resident status includes lawful authorization to enter or remain in Canada as a:

  • visitor,
  • student,
  • worker or,
  • temporary resident permit holder"
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility.html

I know that we are no where close to applying for Citizenship, but it is great to know that we are able to use our days before obtaining permanent residency toward fulfilling the "3 out of the last 5 years" physical presence requirement for citizenship.

:)
This is amazing information. Thank you for sharing

Yes, that is correct. I get the feeling that, when you get your application returned, and you send it back in, it doesn't get completely to the 'bottom of the pile', but only to the 'bottom of the pile of the month' that you originally submitted your application in. So hopefully that is true and you only have to wait until they are busy with applications submitted at the end of May!

Thanks. Could it be that you only get placed to the bottom of the pile of the original month that you submitted your application in?
As you have paid mostly money, just a little missing, so when you completed your payment, I think they put your file back to your original ones together:) Just guessing, lol

I still do not completely understand. I know that the work permit takes 3-3.5months from the date the application was received. My application was also returned and my dates are as follows. Will the work permit timeline be considered from the original submission date.

Original submission date : April 24th
Resubmission date: May 30th
AOR 1: July 13th
When can I expect the work permit to be approved? August or September?
