I finally got my OWP approved yesterday! It was received February 1st according to the online system, however, it was sent together with my PR application which was received February 8th according to the online system. So I’m guessing I count as a February 8th applicant
Nice congratulations!
I am the same time line as you
Hoping I get my OWP soon
Hi Michyy,
Thank you so much for reply. This clarified a few things on my end. I called my Lawyer and got my PR app. linked on his profile. I also checked my PR status on the above link you provided. I was earlier under the wrong impression that OWP only takes 5 weeks.
My Lawyer ,however, did not link my OWP application to his profile and asked me to do it instead it from my profile. But I am unable to link it from my profile.
My question is when you linked you profile for OWP, what category am I selecting under "Which situation applies to the applicant" - I tried both "Applied for bridge work permit" as well as tried "Applied for PR as a spouse or common law partner in Canada". Also my category is "Temporary Residence" and my sub-category is "Work permit extension".
Thanks!
Hi Jawedi!
To be honest I am not sure. We are using a lawyer as well and were advised not to link either one. However if that's what your lawyer said, I would suggest try just using your UCI number from your AOR to link (as that's what I've seen other people do) and then fill in the rest of the information. The category I remember reading to select was "Work Permit"...but its probably best to wait for someone else to reply as I read that a few weeks back.
Nice congratulations!

Same here! Fingers crossed!
Hey Monica,
Thank you so much for the reply. I spoke with my lawyer he linked my PR application on his end. However he did not link my OWP application from his profile and asked me to do it from my own profile instead. Now when I try to link the OWP application using UCI and application no, it doesn't accept it. I am not sure if its because my PR application is linked to another profile.

Thanks again!
Hey,
the right one is the "applied for PR as a spouse...", thats correct. try using your UCI which will be with your online PR application and family name, and fill in the passport info only

I know what it takes about 3 to 4 months to get approval for OWP, and I am just curious that is my OWP app going to be like this until approval or some of the status will change prior approval ?
Thanks for all the help !!

Hi Allen,
We have same timeline as yours. We have not applied for work permit as we already have valid open work permit.
Let us know if you get any update.
Good Luck!

We have a similar timeline. My app was received on Jan 19, 2018. Do you happen to know when your background check started?
Re: OWP
"Review of Eligibility" will change to "We are reviewing your eligibility...."
Hey, did anybody get AOR yet who send an application on April 17 or after?
If you received your OWP under inland spouse sponsor. Is it 100 percent sure that you’ll be approve in having your PR?

Nope. They are assessed differently.

Hi! I am sponsoring my husband. According to Canada post our application was accepted on April 3 but no AOR yet...
My husbands work permit expires on June 29. We’ve also applied for an OWP but it was returned once for incorrect processing fees.
My question is - since his current visa expires on the June 29, and since we haven’t gotten the AOR yet, does it make sense for us to apply for a visitor visa for him, on the chance that the whole PR application is returned? I feel like it would buy us some time, but I’m confused about whether it’s a necessary step.
One other question - is waiting 7 weeks for an AOR normal? I’m seeing lots of folks on here with 4 week processing times. It’s making me nervous that our application will be refused.

It's normal, normally it would take about 4-8 weeks. which day you have submitted?

A visitor visa is not necessary. He will have implied status as he had a legal status when you applied. He can even continue working while your new OWP is processing.
