Hello Guys,
Need your help here. I am currently an international student here in Canada. I just arrived last August 25, 2017. My CSQ arrived March and just sent my CSQ to Federal this day, April 4. My question is- Can I stay in Canada under student visa while processing my PR even if I do not enroll in my college? I am contemplating of quitting school to cut expenses now that I am just waiting for my PR. Am I legally allowed to stay in Canada under student visa even if Im not enrolled? Thanks in advance!
You have to be enrolled at all times.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/eligibility.html

What is a study permit?
The study permit is a document we issue that allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLI) in Canada.

While studying in Canada under a study permit you must:

  • always be enrolled at a DLI
  • make progress towards completing your program
  • respect any conditions listed on your study permit
  • stop studying if you no longer meet the requirements and
  • leave Canada when your permit expires

Dear all,
Is there any way to know if the security screening has been completed or still in process since the information about it has been hidden in the GCMS notes recently?
Ask for CSIS update. the process is same as GCMS note. instead of chosing IIRC choise CSIS and in the comment section mention your first and last name, date of birth, uci number, application number and reason why you are asking for it. I got it this week and i have asked for it in march 8, 2018.

Hey I just got my CSIS update saying its in progress but in GCMS note received in march says everything else are completed except security screening which have started in november 2017. THen I have contacted the CIC and they replied me that, since my file need additional assessments hence it will be taking longer than the processing time. Any thoughts? Running out of patients !!!
Your security screening started in november 2017.Are you inland? It is so late. We almost have the same AOR time. But I ss started from July.

Yes I am Inland. Yes I know its late. I've sent an email to CIC and got a reply like, due to some additional assessments the processing time is longer than expected. So I guess we have nothing to do but waiting.

Hello,
I made exactly the same mistake back in November 2017, I have received the same email and corrected and send them and as always didnt hear from them since then, but I have asked GCMS note in February and saw the my security check section is empty which means they are working on it (I have seen one the blog post here that, if your security check is empty and you have a number like 16.1(c) on the top right corner which means either your security is underway or done). I haven't heard from them since November 17, 2017 (i got my pre-arrival service msg). I have sent them email and tried to contact them but didnt get any respond. I am kind of hopeless now and gave up checking status or contacting them. I am an inland applicant and applied October 13, 2016.

Hope you will find some peace of your mind thinking of my situation. But if you havent asked for GCMS note then go for it. you might have a clue if they are working on it or not.

Thanks and goodluck (we both need it badly)
Hi,

Thanks for the response. I will ask for GCMS notes soon. If you don't mind can we talk over the phone or messages since we're sailing on the same boat.

Hi Eli723,

Are you inland applicant? Did you paid RPRF and medical was done ? --> Can you please share the timeline

I heard in one of the forum here that one of the applicants validated with IRCC on Prearrival email and seems it's not applicable for inland applicants.. Rest not sure about it.

You can also refer the https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11kdzo2tA_6HiILyuHtDsYtVajswDvHYTUiEFlFM1b28/edit#gid=984868481 sheet for timelines of applicants

Hi, well I`m in Canada right now on student visa in different province, but my visa office is not in Canada... so I`m not considered inland.
my timeline as I shared, no medical request yet this is the first time I hear from them since AOR.
