What did the manager say when you spoke to them? NNAS states that accounts only close after one year if the applicant has made no move on the account. Meaning they have not interacted with NNAS or sent in any documents. But if you submitted documents in June 2017, that would be the last official activity on your account and that is less than one year. They should have also been documenting your call in August. I'd call and talk to a manager again and ask if that call in August was documented and if the forms submitted in June were documented as having been received in June. This is completely insane and if this is their tactic, they are probably doing this to many people in order to get more money. I would also write to James Mandel at the Office of the Fairness Commissioner (if you are applying to nurse in Ontario) just to let him know that the process is unfair and why. He cannot intervene on your behalf but the more complains he receives, the more he is obligated to look into this whole ridiculous system.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. It's so unethical.
I also suffered the same fate, it was annoying, I kept send mails and getting lies as repliesoon, in my own case the nursing school misspelt my name in one of the documents and I was told I can resolve the issue in one of 2 ways, which I did in due time before expiration, then 2 weeks to expiration date I was informed that I must send in the other document, I asked for an extension of time they gave me one month, the document was sent in and updated more than 3 weeks before expiration, they just waited for it to expire and asked for reactivation fee, I was cross and I started to doubt the authenticity of the process

Hi!

As a permanent resident, I am planning to sponsor my wife, who happens to be a registered / licensed Nurse in the Philippines. I was filling out the IMM 5669 form. In her Education History I listed her Secondary and College Education (BSc. Nursing). Should I also list her PRC License (Board of Nursing) seperately under "Trade / Other Post Education"? Should it be included in the Education History at all?

Yes it's definitely a money grab. So is their appeals process. The way it is set up, no applicant can ever win an appeal, even though they pay $500 to appeal. Because their easy answer is that "the school didn't send detailed enough documentation". Terrible and embarrassing for me as a Canadian.

You have to send JDs which you did not submit as NNAS requires JDs of last 5 years but CNO wants it since you graduated & from your first job.

Oh, I never worked as a nurse til recent. BTW, I took the Jurisprudence exam and passed---how long should I expect the wait would be again?

And do you know what will be the next step once i apply to CNO.
You will want to read all of the posts in this thread and then you will have a better understanding of what to expect. But the brief version is:

CNO will ask you to provide information on your nursing work experience. They will use this to determine whether your experience is enough to consider you to have met the education requirement. This could take an undetermined amount of time. Months for sure. If your work experience was in India it is not likely they will consider you to have met education requirements.

They will ask you to take the IENCAP. This exam is a full day and costs $500. If you pass then you will have met the education requirement and can then move forward with the other eligibility items, including taking the NCLEX-RN exam. The IENCAP is difficult to get a spot in. They only offer the exam about 8 times maximum per year. Enrol as soon as enrolment opens. Attend the free workshop run by HealthForce Ontario. After IENCAP you will get your result in about 8-10 weeks.

If you do not pass IENCAP then you will have to do more school. If by this point you haven't worked as a nurse for more than 3 years, you are screwed and will have to take the full nursing degree again likely.

Wish I found this thread earlier. I applied to NNAS on February 2, 2015 and my status changed to "Ready for Review" today, March 30, 2015. I spoke to an agent and she advised that they were 2 weeks behind as someone said before. Anyone applying from the Caribbean? I am applying from Jamaica.

I'm applying from Guyana. Now gathering my documents. I wish I had found this thread earlier.

Hey everyone,

Has anyone went through the process for a license through the CNO? I have already went through the NNAS process, which came back as comparable. I am actually a Canadian who was trained in the USA. The CNO seemed to accept my education, but asked for proof of passing the NCLEX, police report and i did the jurisprudence exam. They have had all of this information since January, and I am still waiting to hear ANYTHING. Anyone have a general timeline to how long it took to receive a letter from the CNO?
