Hi guys,
My in laws wanted to come and visit us and asked to send paperwork (invitation letter etc) so they can submit a visitor visa application.
When submitting they did a mistake and submitted for a parent/grandparent visa.
After a week or so they got an email saying they need to pay the right fee for parent/grandparent visa and get medical exams and proof of med insurance in Canada etc.
They never visit and stay more than 2-3 weeks, and that is like not every year, more like once every 3 years. Why do they need such an expensive visa with lots of expenses on their and our side?
Is there a way to write them and ask them to consider visitor visa, not a parent grandparent visa?

The visa office doesn't know/wouldn't know that your in-laws had meant to apply for TRVs unless you inform them.
You can send a CSE/web form + an email to the relevant visa office mentioning that your in-laws had incorrectly selected the super visa option.... and their applications should be considered for TRVs instead

What is CSE/web form? and how to send an email to visa office? Isn't TRV issued and processed centrally and VISA offices just stamping?
Visa office is Moscow and not sure what are these CSE/webform and where to send an email. the electronic portal of applications where I login and check status does not have reply to message or something functionality.

Online visa applications can be processed by any global visa office. However, to request for a regular TRV, you'll need to send a CSE/web form + email the Moscow visa office.
