Hello everyone, I NEED HELP PLEASE

I applied in November for inland spousal sponsorship, including the OWP.

I've just received an email saying "Your application to remain in Canada as a temporary resident has been approved. A secure document has
been mailed to you at the address that you provided "

Type: Permit - WP-EXT / Permis - PT-PROR Validity: 2018/05/15

Is this the Open Work Permit ? The validity date matches the expiration date on my passport, when I renew my passport do I have to reapply for an Open work permit or will it extend validity automatically ?

Hello there, you cannot drive with your home country license any more, because you already have been in canada for 8 months. You need to apply BC class 5 Licance, since you have license from your country! Good luck.

If you have an international driving license you can drive with it for a year or 2 years - depending on the state so check that out for BC. Also, you can exchange your home driving license for a full G or at least be granted X amount of experience from it towards a Canadian driving license. Again, depending on the state. In my case I just exchanged my "home" driving license straight up for a full G Canadian driving license and was given X years of driving experience for owning my home driving license. To do that you need a couple of translated documents from your home country proving that you owned a driving license for X amount years and was not involved in any big accidents. If not you can always start a procedure of obtaining a Canadian driving license without being a Permanent Residence or even having an OWP. I did all of that while being a visitor. It's also good to check if the country you come from is recognized and the whole exchanging driving license process can be done.

All of this is based on the Ontario state laws so it's good to check what BC might require. Good luck

Whatever you said it’s true, but only in Ontario you can get license without any status in canada!

Hi! I sent the entire package (IMM5710 and checklist updated) and the documents required (copy of passport, visa, marriage certificate, proof of payments and a copy of the letter they sent me)

Another person from the forum called them and they told that had to fill out the updated forms and send it all again.

I think you should call them and ask about that.

This is very stressful.

Hello everyone, I applied for an open work permit online on Feb. 9, 2018. It was received on the same day, and it said since then it's proccessing. They say it takes 45 days. The problem now is that my current WP is expiring in Mar 1st and that will be a problem especially my employer does't allow me to work while having an expired WP! What can I do?

I am sponsoring my wife under the inland sponsorship program. I am on PR and my wife lives with me in canada.

The checklist says

"POLICE CERTIFICATES:
You do not have to submit police certificates now. After your application is received, you will be requested to a) submit a validated Schedule A:
Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) form for yourself (and any family members 18 or over), and b) provide police certificates."

Does that mean my wife needs to submit the police clearance certificate for her parents as well? I hope not. I always get confused with the word family in these forms. As per my understanding, a family member can only be the spouse and kids after the wedding.. Is that right?

I submitted my Ontario PR spousal sponsorship application at the end of October and my background check and police certificates were requested on January 10th.
I submitted these in late January but have not heard anything since.

Just wondering at what stage an applicant becomes 'approved in principal' and what sort of timeline this has?
From what I am reading on here - it seems AIP only occurs after the medical, is this true?

Yes, AIP occurs pretty much at the end of the process, or at least that has been the case so far. Most apps get SA, then AIP then DM, all in a matter of a few days or weeks, near the end of the process, around the 10-12 month mark, well after the medical.
Medicals used to be requested around 140-160 days after app was received but then they stopped doing that, now med request comes pretty much when they feel like it, lol. For some May applicants, they still haven't received med request. For others, it has come around 6-7 months after their app was received.
Once you send in your PCCs and Schedule A, it's a bit quiet until you receive the med request.

I thought AIP was a lot quicker, I was counting on using it to pay domestic study fees this year, no worries.

Sorry, I have another question that I'd appreciate help with.

I submitted my Ontario PR application (Spousal) at the end of October 2017.

I am currently in Ontario on a study permit which expires on October 31st 2018.

I'm a bit confused about bridging VISAs.

Should I:
a) Apply for an OWP (would I still be able to study on this?).
b) Apply to extend my study permit.
c) Do nothing as I should have a PR decision by then.
