Hi,

I ‘m Interested to sponsor my mom. Wondering what is the current processing time? On the cic website it is still showing Jan 2014 but a friend of mine got her dads pr already. She applied in 2016. Is the cic information ever updated?

That page/processing time is not correct, or you can say that information is not useful to conclude processing time at least for me in the past.

Yes i trust. But you never know, because even visitor visa can be multiple entry and I think would be 10 years. And lots of things changed in 10 years.

Information for the person writing the letter of invitation
Writing a letter of invitation does not mean you are legally responsible for the visitor once he or she gets to Canada. You should still write the letter in good faith. You must tell the truth and plan to keep the promises you make in the letter.

What would be the worst, if illegal stay? or of-course not effecting parents sponsorship. Is that Correct?

This has zero effect on a sponsorship app, regardless of if your friend overstays, works illegally etc. Writing an invitation letter does not legally obligate you in any way.

Just curious,

Let's say you got lucky and was able to apply for the sponsorship for your mom and dad. Sometime later, If one of the parents decided not to come to Canada, Can you withdraw your application for ONE parent (only one. The other wants to come to Canada)

Any idea? Thanks!

That parent can simply not come after the app is approved. There is nothing to withdraw.

However both parents must still be included in family size, and both must pass medical exam, regardless of if one of both are intending to move to Canada.

Thanks for the reply, but what happens the other parent did not pass the medical exam while the other one did. The whole app will be withdrawn because of this?

The applicant (for both parents) will be refused. (not withdrawn)

If they are divorced/legally separated then you can sponsor one of them without any dependence on the other parent. However, I;m not sure how it would work if they were to get divorced mid application processing.

The rule is there so that if 1 parent is inadmissible due to excessive demand on healthcare, the other parent can't just become a PR then turn around and sponsor their spouse under a family class app where there is no excessive demand criteria.

So if 1 parent fails the medical, neither can get PR status.

No, this is not correct. The sponsorship bar only applies to a spouse that was previously sponsored for PR.

If 1 parent is non-accompanying and passed medical exam during the app, the parent that lands as PR can then sponsor the other parent immediately once they are a PR.

but he has to pay 450+ 450$ (whatever) more for second parents if he change a package he can save that money but case will be delay

True, not sure of all fees for parents apps but you're right it may save some money to switch one to non-accompanying.
