Hi!
I'm currently living in Canada and my partner who I am sponsoring is in Chile. We've been living together for the last 2 years but I've had to come back to Canada before him because of a job offer.
He's coming in March or April but I was wondering what the procedure is for booking a flight in this instance. Can he come to Canada with a one way flight? I really don't want to spend the extra money on a return flight if we aren't going to use it.
Also does he tell immigration in the airport that he is here to be sponsored for a spousal visa? Like when they ask the purpose of his visit, does he say "I'm visiting my partner and she's sponsoring me for a spousal visa?", if so I'm assuming that he would need some proof of that, right? But we are not applying until he gets here because we were a little late with the paperwork before I left Chile and he still needs to sign things. So could he have copies of the paperwork to show immigration?
And whats the procedure..he gets an ETA (because Chile doesn't require a visa visa), he books a flight, he comes, we send off the application, then like 3-4 months for the OWP? and who knows how long for the PR?
Thanks!
