Guys, we need a bit of help. My mother-in-law got the visa and her medical expire in March. However... she can't come to Canada until at least summer. We have a grandparent who is almost 100 yo who needs care back home + she's got some medical issues she needs to address before she can take a flight. All last minute, all very unfortunate. ;-(
Does anyone know how to ask for an extension? I realize she would need a new medical of course but is it even possible to get an extension? If it is, how do we ask for one?

Sorry to hear that bud! Hope your grandparent gets better soon!
I don't have anything to say re: extension as I don't have any experience with that. However, do you think your mother can fly here to land and immediately return back home? PR card will be mailed to a Canadian Address, and I am guessing you're currently in Canada. Hence, you will be able to receive it on her behalf. Then you would have two options. Either fly yourself to home country and give it to her so she can return safely, or she applies for a PTRD document from home country to return here, in Canada. Some may suggest mailing PR card to your mother from here, but I don't think that would be the safest or right option. But I would also like to hear from what other have to say re: extension. I don't think they can extend beyond the validity of medical exam.
