There were two fees, one is the Open Work Permit holder fee ($100) and the other is for the work permit itself ($155) for a total cost of $255. It is very unclear and many have made this exact mistake... So ridiculous that it is set up this way! It doesn't help anyone...
So true!! Makes all the difference to have even the slightest idea of time frame and what is going on... Could you please post the link to the Facebook group?
It’s called Canada Spousal Sponsorship Suport Group. It’s a closed group and I cannot figure out how to share the link. You just have to answer a couple of questions to join Very helpful group.

It's such garbage. They could simply email us and we could make the payment and forward the receipt. No need to waste such a large amount of precious time!
My visitor visa was expired on Oct, I applied for visa extension on Aug but I haven't heard any news from it. However, I got OWP on Dec, so I guess I can consider it as a temporary visa to go out and in Can, am I correct?
Okay what does the bottom of your visa say? Does it allow for re-entry or it doesn't? If you are going to the US via road, it is unlikely that you will have much trouble but if by air then I would suggest you do more research on it.

If you have received your OWP, then you should cancel your extension application as a visitor - you don't need it! You might get refund if it hasn't been processed. The OWP is not a visa to travel outside Canada and you cannot use it to re-enter Canada. With this OWP you should apply for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) online through MyCIC and ensure that you have received the visa sticker in your passport before you leave Canada. This only applies to you if you are a visa national. Otherwise, you might have to simply apply for e-TA or can re-enter with the OWP if you are US citizen.
@Tin tin: My Visitor visa is Multiple entry.
@ dok: I don't know how to cancel my Visitor visa extension as I cannot link it online to see what current status is. Anyway, I talked to my husband and we are like it is ok, we are not sure if we should cancel or not. So to make sure that we will not have any troubles later, we keep it like that. We don't want to think about it as we both are tired of paper works and waiting.
I am now approved I called them and I was approved on Nov 29th.
Timeline is here (Inland):
Application received : Dec 23rd 2016
Medical were successful
No interview
No fingers prints
Approved Nov 29th 2017
Now what is next ? Am I receiving the actual PR ? can I apply for my new sin number ?
Hi HomeAgain17, sorry to bother. I see that you mentioned your OWP was returned due to insufficient funds due to sending only $100. We too only sent in $100, where does it say it should've been $155? Should we pay another $55 now and avoid them from returning our application?
You have to pay 100 plus 155 so all in all you need to pay 255. That also happen to my application i only pay 100 and they returned my owp application saying insufficient payment. So i needed to pay another 155 and send back the whole application in alberta.
