i am waiting for LVO to start my BGC but the question is,
when we get the COPR how long is it valid for?
i guess its valid for 6 months if i am not wrong.
but what i want to ask is, is it 6 months from the date they issue the COPR or is it 6 months from the date of medical done?

I am not sure where you got the information that it is valid for 6 months....
The visa validity will be listed once you get your passport back and it will be valid till the date that your medical is valid.

Immigrant visa is valid for 12 months since the date of your medical.
my wife's medical was done on 20 june 2017,
so that means the visa will be either valid till 20 Dec if we get it in this month or they will ask us for another medical right?

Medical is valid for 12 months. So you would have to travel before 20 June 2018.
You are confusing 6 months with police certificate which is in most cases 6 months. Although CIC doesn't usually ask for it a second time.

Hello everyone,
I'd like to start with a quick thank you note to all the regular and old users who volunteer their precious time to address peoples concerns and provide answers.
I'd like someone's opinion on my personal situation involving my spousal sponsorship application. I'm a Canadian citizen, located in QC, and I applied in January, 2017.
Application received: Jan 18, 2017
Processing started: Feb 06, 2017
I'm being represented by an attorney and all communication is channeled through him which means I cannot link the application to get up to date notes with details. I can only check the application status using the online tool. Medical was done beforehand and so far I haven't heard back from them since I've received the CSQ back in April, 2017. Medical certificate is supposed to expire in 4 days and I'm getting anxious. There's been no updates whatsoever.
We were a Nikah only case (back in November 2015) as I wanted to come back to Canada - get a job and get myself into a stable position prior to rukhsati. I did all of that - went back in March, 2017 and rukhsati was completed. Everything was fully documented.
I'm very much thinking about sending an e-mail about all of this and I wish to inquire about the hold up on our file. As a young couple - we've only been able to spend like 3 months together in total since our marriage and being a person with limited mobility - I've faced a lot of struggles all by myself cause she could not be here.
How should I go about this? I'd love anyone's input into this. Sorry about the long message. I know there's a lot of details here.
Thank you in advance!
No news again for me today

i also thought of medical is only valid for 6 months. My wife's medical was done on Sept 13th, 2017 so then she has Sept 12th/13th, 2018 to have her medical expired? Police certificate expired in 6 months?

Congrats! i was looking your details, so it took them more than a year to start your Back Ground check>?

It did! I applied in Oct of last year. I was starting to think my GC Key was broken. As per my last set of notes my eligibility said review required, so I'm very confused... Can they start BGC while still reviewing eligibility? I know a fellow October applicant got called for an interview after BGC started so I don't want to think anymore lol This process is playing with my sanity...
I don't know the reason why, but they will ALWAYS ask for NICOP when leaving Pakistan and entering Pakistan. I suggest you get them made to prevent any issues when leaving Pakistan. Don't risk it.
When I went to Islamabad recently, they wanted NICOPs as well as our Canadian passports upon Entry to Pakistan.
However when I left Islamabad, they only checked my passport. NICOP was not asked or seen.
Not sure if it is random or family-based decisions by the immigration authorities.
However, it is recommended that everyone should have ALL travel documents/ID documents in order.
Dual nationals should have both valid NICOP as well as Foreign Passports ready and valid all the time and carry them.
