Hi All,

I have applied offline -SOWP on 26 Oct 2017.

Can someone please suggest on how to link it to online so that I can know the status.

I have tried linking from the CIC website and it always says application not found.

Hi Charan,

When you have time please read some previous posts. There is the answer, I saw it before many times, Unfortunately I forgot the correct page number. Some Applicants posted it before. ( Try to read all the posts Between Page 380 to 393)

Dear Friends,

I am confused with 2 things. Temporary Resident Visa - TRV & Spouse Open Work Permit - SOWP

My Question is:

If a person's SOWP Application is approved (Suppose , Applicant is from India) then can he directly travel to Canada with only his SOWP Approved Document.? Is only SOWP is enough to travel to Canada & Work?

Or After his SOWP approved then he has to apply for his Temporary Residence Visa?

i Applied SOWP online.
timeline as follows -
Applied August 15
AOR August 21
Medical Req. October 15
Medical done October 18
Medical passed October 26
Now waiting for PPR.
Can you please suggest in how much time i will get the PPR. feeling a bit nervous what is going to be the outcome for my application now.
please give your opinions.

Applied again with marriage photos, join bank statement sfor SOWP on April 17th at Abu Dhabi
Upfront Medical
Medical Passed mid July.
Work Permit PPR Nov 2nd

Took over 6.5 Months

I have a doubt, In your case now CIC requested for PPR, now on the passport CIC will stamp your TRV or OWP?

Finally got passport request today

After 3 refusals

Application submitted paper based Chandigarh office:31 May with upfront medical
Medical request again:20 sep
Medical done: 27 sep
Medical passed:10 oct
Passport request: 25 oct

hi Guys,

I have applied the SOWP for my spouse who is in India currently on 29th June, paper based @VFS bangalore....the file is still being processed and its been more than 4 months since I have applied , mailed them numerous times ..no update and no reply yet
only update I got it
medicals passed
review of eligibility ..under process
background check..under process..

any suggestions or inputs on how much till indefinite would prolong ..?

CIC will stamp TRV on passport and when you land in Canada , the immigration officer will provide OWP

I want to apply for study permit and I want my spouse to come with me at the same time, however open work permit applicaiton processing time takes long time in my country so I want her to apply for OWP from inside canada

can she apply for visitor visa at the same time with me and what kind of explanation or docs I need to give to CIC so that they accept her application

TRV is the visa which will be stamped on your passport, SOWP is a sheet of paper which will be separate from your passport but you must always keep it with you when you'll cross the border to leave Canada for somewhere, without SOWP you cannot re-enter to Canada.

OWP will be issued by visa officer when person will enter to Canada first time.

Hello Guys,

My spouse is in Canada from January 19 2017 on SOWP, and she came here based on my study permit and her status is going to end by November 30 2017. She is currently working in NOC job B (full time) from past 8 months.

Last Friday I got PGWP for 3 years, I am doing job as Test Engineer role in software industry(NOC B) with offer letter and 3 pay stubs (Joined on September 21 2017).

Now, I want to do extension of my spouse open work permit. Can any one have help me out in knowing details process (step by step) to apply SOWP extension? Please help me , I have only 25 days in hand.
