Well let's not panic just yet. I am still positive. If my file gets returned because of this, so be it, I hope I won't lose the application fee.

I'm pretty sure we will not lose the application fee, even if the app is returned, the only thing we would lose is a few months delay in becoming a citizen. I think I read somewhere, (can't remember where) someone made an error, or maybe forget to sign and was instructed to send another application, with a cover letter explaining, and without the photos and other documents (since they have those already), but I'm not gonna do that unless instructed by IRCC to do so. It's just a pity the phone lines are constantly busy
