Hmm. So basically eCAS is not a very predictive or accurate tool. It does not tell you if any specific stages like eligibility or security have been completed.
Nope it seems it just updates information for when certain things are acknowledged, but not every step.

Guys, I am delighted to announce that after 15 months plus, I have had a decision made. My ECAS account got updated during the night. I am going to assume it is positive. I also had my GCKey account say updated in the notes, but nothing has actually been updated there yet.
Merciiiii Canada!

Hi everyone

I visited Canada 2 years ago I entered using my Tourist Visa, according to my ECAS they are checking my BC right now... my question is since I applied for the tourist visa will the BC not be too long because in my opinion when I applied for the visa the first time I think they did a background check already..

I would like to know your opinion about this matter... I might take a little less because of the previous job they already did or maybe not

Regards

Hi APayés,

I am not sure what you mean by what country did they request medical checks from, but everyone is subject to a medical check regardless of their country of origin.

Cheers!

Hi APayés,

This will not shorten the process for Background check. You applied 2 years ago for that visa so they will require a background check that is up to date. I came here with a 2 year WHV(PVtiste) 3 years ago, where I was subject to a background check, but it did not make any difference for my PR background check, as overall the process took me 15 months to receive a decision made from when I initially sent my application.

So in short, it is good that they have some background info on you already but it will not make much of a difference.

Cheers!

Quick update:
I received my COPR on the 5th September. I called CIC to book an appointment to do the landing in the Montreal office (since I live in Montreal and I had no international travel planned) and I was informed that the request was done and I would receive a communication with a date and time within 15 business days. 25 business days passed by and no communication was received. Called CIC again, and they told me I had to wait and that Montreal office was always very busy and recommended to send them a letter. Which I did. It has been a week since the letter was received and nothing happened.
I'm considering renting a car and do the landing in the border.
Did anyone here do the landing through the Montreal office or driving to the border that can give me his feedback?

Merci beaucoup :)

My friend went with someone else who drove him to the border. He just said that he came to flagpole and the US customs sent him back to Canada customs where he did his landing. It was at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle.

Sent a case specific inquiry to my VO;
Dear Officer, not sure which office is processing my file now. However I will update my information with the Dakar Visa Office as this is the office responsible for applicants residing in my region. Kindly find attached (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx actually the document i was updating is not necessary and not important for the application. Providing this document is facultative as per checklist i was just poking the VO and asking about an update on my application in a polite way without them knowing that am just an impatient dog..;):p) Other than that, nothing else has changed. Regards.

Their response:
Dear applicant

We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence. Please note that your application is being processed at the Dakar office

Thank you for the interest you have shown in Canada.

This does not look like a generic message to me. even though it is vague , i know it was not automatically triggered. Someone must have sent it. Like other emails they did not tell me that my file is awaiting review by an officer or in queue , or that i should be patient , to limit my correspondence etc.. anyways patience pays. am waiting. out of 13 months am at 8 months. time is going . i will get there
A Rue Emile Zola in Dakar... That feels pretty romantic..
