There is no limit, however you can only carry 10,000$ cad max in cash, rest could be in demand draft or other form. for jewelry take pictures and get evaluation of that jewelry also so immigration officer can stamp those jewelry pictures for future use.

sorry but just a small correction: you can carry more than 10000$ of cash but you just need to declare it on your way in
you will not pay tax on anything you bring with you the first time you land as long as it is for personal usage

Sept 2011 Philippine to Canada
Parents Sponsorship:
The medical were received in MANILA on Aug 2016 and we emailed them asking any updates and replied just be patient.
One of the application is currently under working permit in Canada, when the application was received by the CIC she fall in the dependant category she's 21 years old and 4 months (LOCK IN age).
Now she can apply for permanent residency as caregiver. And we have no clue until when will be an updates. We don't know what to do if she just wait ( if she will be included or not) or apply for permanent resident and pay atleas 1500$. Is there anyone out here who is having an application in Philippines.

Thank you for he update. Dependant should be atleast 21 below right? Congratulations!!! How many exactly did it took before the PPR? Is your application is in Manila as well? It's less than a week for the visa to be release.

Wish u all the best and the family this forum is such a big help. If I can only reapply them with the new application I think it will be quicker. We have a family friend who applied less than 6 months and then boom the parents are already here. I can't barely imagine how long it took for us to wait just almost 7 years...
The requirements for a sponsor have been tightened up but the overall process/ checks etc are likely still the same.
I can only speculate that its all political: trying to please the bigger crowd of potential/ future family class sponsors vs a smaller crowd of those stuck in process from 6-7 years ago. It all seems very fishy...cough...vote buying...cough

Are you sure the parents arent here on a super visa?
It seems very very unlikely that parents sponsorship would get approved and PR processed and visa issued in 6 months. Heck, spousal applications, which btw are higher priority than family class, can take longer than 6 months on average.
Imagine how poeple are stuck with the application and I feel sorry for us who are longing to be with our family. Suddenly new immigrants came along waited for 8 months. And it doesn't make sense allowing new immigrants before applicants waiting for decades and some pass away for waiting too long. Just saying it out.... And there's not even an explanation out of it. There's a lot of why? Why? Why? And they should have atleast an answer to us as an INDIVIDUAL...
