RN_0001 do you have any review materials? if so, where did they buy it or can I borrow it? thank you vey much
The website says:

Review documents such as:
Entry-to-Practice Competencies for the Registered Nurses Profession
Practice Standards for Regulated Members with CNA Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses
current (published within the past 5 years) Canadian medical/surgical, maternal-newborn, pediatric and mental health nursing textbooks.

There is also some information here: http://www.touchstoneinstitute.ca/assessment/arnap/exam-details.aspx

Entry to practice competencies are very important:
http://www.nurses.ab.ca/content/dam/carna/pdfs/DocumentList/Standards/RN_EntryPracticeCompetencies_May2013.pdf

I would also review the Nursing Interventions Classification
http://www.nurses.ab.ca/content/carna/home/professional-resources/practice-resources/competency-profile.html

Review standard assessments. Remember that what makes Canadian/US nursing a bit different from some other countries is the emphasis on therapeutic communication with patients. This is always important in everything we do.

I would ask CARNA what the furthest date is that you are able to register for this exam. They might have a limit on the amount of time between when you tell them you will take the ARNAP choice and when you actually do the ARNAP exam. In Ontario we have free practice sessions that each person registered for the IENCAP is allowed to attend once. It is held at Touchstone Institute in Toronto and it's a full day with an instructor who walks the group through the expectations of the exam. It might be good to ask CARNA and/or Touchstone and/or any IEN advocacy groups (we have one in Ontario called "CARE for Nurses") whether they know if such sessions will be held for ARNAP preparations. Since it's new, they might not yet, but they might be able to tell you if that is an idea they are considering or not.

Dear happy1613!

Can you share your practice years as well as expertise so that we can figure out what CNO is exactly looking for ?

I found this website (cncap.ca) . They have classes for ARNAP and IENCAP. Maybe they will be helpful.

ARNAP Exam Review (Alberta Registered Nurse Assessment Program for IEN’s)

Nursing OSCE Exam Review – IENCAP Preparation

Hi there I just received AR today my LPN is somewhat comparable and RN not comparable.. now I'm planning to apply for CLPNA... my question is that when I apply for CLpNA is it okay to attach right away the job description on the application? Or should I need to wait until they require? Thanks

I would recommend that you apply to both--to become a LPN and also apply to become a RN. The NNAS process does a good job of channeling RN's into LPN positions which means they get those skilled as RN's working for less pay. I think that if you have to go through the process of sending in your job description etc (depending on what the licensing body asks you to do), you might as well see if they will consider your work experience equivalent to RN while they are assessing it for LPN. There have been people who were "non comparable" as RN's who submitted their job description information and ended up getting licensed based on that. I just think it's worth trying, but I'm not sure how much of an extra fee it would be to apply for both, or if there is a rule that you can only apply to one. Best to check with the licensing body on that.

As for sending your job description in... it's better to wait until you find out what they will ask of you. The job description forms are specific forms they will give you with specific instructions, so it's unlikely they will look at what you send in with your application.

Thanks for the insight!! I have decided to apply for LPN as well as RN at the same time after receiving my AR I hope they'll email me soon ☺

Hello guys,
just a quick question. I notice part of CARNA requirements is to obtain employer reference. Which means working in Alberta for some time. Does anyone know how long one is required to do so? Is there like a minimum hours needed?
Please help, anyone with knowledge or experience- thanks.

Situation:

I am living in Saudi Arabia, My Wife is a BSCN Nurse and was out of
practice since 5 years, we got immigration and now she has started again
her practice in home country for 5 months and still doing just because
there is requirement of CNO that she has to prove her practice experience
of 1 Year in last 3 Years, we applied for NNAS including the recent
experience and then CNO and we got eligibility for Jurisprudence and NCLEX
Exam.

My wife wants to come back to Saudi Arabia as our goal of getting
eligibility for Jurisprudence and NCLEX Exam has been achieved.

Question:

As the NNAS is showing that she has 3 months of recent experience and she
is still working. If my wife resigns from her current Job, Will CNO ask for
her recent 1 Year experience after my wife passes both the exam?

We have given our all the docs to NNAS and than the report is submitted to CNO and they have emailed us that you have to pass exam Jurisprudence and NCLEX... after that do I have show my recent experience to CNO for completing registeration or the NNAS report is sufficient?
