Hey there
I’ve got a few questions and I’d appreciate if anyone could help assist me
How do I track my PR application?
Applied for pr in sept 2023.received biometric in December 2023 and eligibility mail in June 2024 and nothing after that. What should be my next step?Im still awaiting COPR
I’m reaching out for advice regarding my family’s delayed Permanent Residency (PR) application with IRCC. We are protected persons, and our application has now been pending for longer than expected. Here are some details about our situation:
- Status: Protected Persons
- Application Submitted: August 2019
- Request for Medical: June 2022 (the time frame for the first medical we did in 2017 as refugee claimants had already elapsed that’s why we were requested to go for another medical)
- Medical Status: Passed
My dad who is the primary applicant had to have another admissibility hearing in Dec 2022 (political asylum)but he passed that hearing and he was released and no longer seen as inadmissible.
We have received pre-arrival letter in October 2024 which is weird because we’ve been residing in Canada since 2017 when we came as refugee claimants.
Our PR application status shows in process.
Given our status as protected persons, I’m wondering if anyone here has experienced similar delays or has any insights into how IRCC handles these cases. We have written countless letters to IRCC and even spoken to countless IRCC agents; some say there’s nothing else for us to do than to keep on waiting ; some said we’ll get it soon.
It’s very limiting not having our PR and it’s mentally derailing; everyone I know that came as refugees claimants in 2017 have gotten their citizenship.
Our last option is Order of Mandamus but we’re scared IRCC will be rushed and forced to take a decision that will not favour us.
Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated, as we’re feeling quite anxious about the prolonged processing time.

Actually am just starting to file a mandamus against the immigration this week and it costs me $3K my application started January 2020. And up until now no serious decision has been made. I think you should fight to the end because things don't always go easily for everyone.
No my friend. I got the citizenship last year. Just came to this froum today after a long time. I hope this quiet place means everyone already are done.
Hi. Congrats! Can you please share your timeline? It seems like it took you about 4 years after PR to get your citizenship? Thats a really long time but please correct me if I’m wrong. I’d like to know when you applied, when you received ECOPR, PR card and when you were eligible to apply for citizenship. Also, if you can share how long the citizenship application process was for you that would be great. Thanks!

I submitted my PR application (paper-based) under the Protected Person class from Ontario in July 2022. The last update I received from CIC was on December 1, 2023, confirming that I met the eligibility criteria for PR under this class. The estimated completion date for my application was June 22, 2024. However, I am very concerned as I have not received any further updates since December 1, 2023. This means the application is now significantly behind the estimated processing time of approximately 34 weeks. Is anyone else from 2022 still waiting for their PR approval?

Would suggest calling IRCC and ordering GCMS notes before contacting an MP. The process of timeline isn’t unusual so there is likely nothing wrong but GCMS notes will confirm this.
