Hello,
My company submitted my LMIA application in May 2024 and I am currently waiting for the decision.
On August 2024, they announced that they won't be processing LMIA applications in regions that have an unemployment rate higher than 6%.
Does this apply to all LMIA applications or the applications submitted after September 2024?

It shouldn’t but that doesn’t mean a LMIA approval. What is current status in Canada?
Yes, I understand. I just wanted to know if the application world be processed or not.
My work permit is over and I currently have a visitor record on hand.

So even if you get LMIA, how are you going to apply for a closed work permit. Are you from a visa exempt country because you cannot flagpole.
My lawyer suggested that I contact IRCC and explain my current situation once I get my LMIA decision.
Based on the answer that IRCC gives, I either stay and apply for my work permit or l leave the country and apply for my work permit outside Canada.

Explain what to IRCC. Hope you aren’t paying your lawyer for such bad advice. You can no longer apply for a closed work permit in Canada as a visitor. That ended in August. So why wait in Canada because you will have to apply outside Canada and could take many months depending on home country.
That is what I have been thinking as well. I have been making preparations to move back in the next month as well.
By the way, do you have any information on which months LMIA application is being processed at the moment.
Last I heard was they were processing March's application at the end of November 2024

Still March and some April. Heard that we’re prioritizing certain NOCs/PR support but don’t know if that is true. Where do you live?
I currently live in Cambridge, Ontario

You are a visitor so when you apply outland, where do you live (home country). You will apply from home country.
Yes, when I leave Canada, I will be going back to India (home country). I will apply for my closed work permit from there.

So processing is about 20 weeks and around 30 days for passport stamping. Good luck. If low wage with new rules, you may only get a year long WP.
Thank you for clarifying my queries. Hopefully everything goes well.
