My friend, to me the best part is the excitement of getting there and not any « destination.» For me, the moment of becoming a Canadian is not some vaunted end goal. It's a milestone. In fact, for me, there are no end goals in this Great Infinite Journey of existence. Only milestones of happiness (en français je dirais plutôt s'accomplir et s'épanouir) and enjoyment and refinement of the way to get to each of them. And you know what, I got a whole damn train of milestones I'm already looking forward to after this one. To flagellate myself for some arbitrary self-imposed deadlines of any one step is silly. Where some choose to reproach, I choose to celebrate. When those who complain every step of the way to getting what they want finally do get what they want, I say: I'm afraid I won't have any congratulations to offer you but only my commiseration because at least the self-castigation has ceased, even though they'll probably start it up again for the next thing they desire. I don't judge though, we all chose our own paths. I hope I have not offended you, my friend.
