Can my wife apply for the BOWP as an accompanying spouse in a PR application? (PLEASE HELP!)

Can my wife apply for the bridging open work permit as an accompanying spouse in a PR application? She is here with me in Ontario, Canada on an SOWP visa. We applied for the PR today with her being the accompanying spouse.

As a primary applicant, I can apply for the BOWP as the AOR is in my name. But what about my wife?

It's so confusing. I thought we could apply together under my BOWP application, but I read on the IRCC website only the primary applicant is eligible for the BOWP. I am worried that both of us will get rejected for the BOWP.

Should she apply for an open work permit separately using my AOR?

FYI : Both our work permits are going to expire next month (Feb 8th 2024)

Hi Abhishek, I am in the same situation, could you tell me did you applied together or separately, I see a question that do you accompany a family member i said "Yes", and it shows IMM5710 to be filled by both principal applicant and spouse.

I submitted my BOWP application through the principal applicant's account. However, BOWP is only for the principal applicant. You can apply for a SOWP for your spouse while submitting your BOWP in the same account. Below is my BOWP/SOWP timeline for your insight :

BOWP/SOWP Applied : August 24, 2024
BOWP/SOWP AOR : August 24, 2024
BOWP/SOWP WP - EXT : August 25, 2024
BOWP/SOWP BVL/FD: December 23, 2024
BOWP/SOWP Approval: December 31, 2024
BOWP/SOWP Received: January 10, 2025

Hello, I applied for my spouse and myself through my GC key portal. For the question if a family member is accompanying you. You can say YES and this lets you fill and submit the IMM570 form for both. We received two separate confirmation letter with an implied status extension for 6months. We received our PR before the BOWP approval.

So for primary applicant and spouse single application is enough? Sorry I am so confused with the recent changes. I am the primary applicant and recently lost job. so am i eligible to apply bowp for me and my spouse?

BOWP is only for the principal applicant. You can apply for a SOWP for your spouse while submitting your BOWP in the same account.

Quick question to everyone,

if I declare spouse as not accompanying in my PR application.
and the scenarios is - my Spouse is with me right now in a Canada on SOWP.

Can I still apply for her OWP with my BOWP application even though she’s not included in my PR application?

Is it necessary for Spouse to be included as accompanying in PR application to apply for her OWP with my BOWP?

My CRS score is going down if I include her at this moment :-(
