Study Permit Extension

My case is quite complicated, i applied for study permit and spouse open work permit for PhD Fall 2023 , i was Granted study permit for 6 months my visa is also expiring in 6 months. I have applied for extension . When can i expect decision? Secondly should i continue doing job or or not because my SIN number is also expiring with study permit. I am worried and there is no specific reason of why thy granted me visa less than my study duration

Not complicated at all. You applied to extend your status before your study permit expired so you are on implied status so you can work. Processing is about 77 days. This is common as sometimes IRCC wants to make sure that you are continuing with your program and show funds to support studies.

Thank you for your reply.Normally IRCC issue visa n permit for study duration and 90 days after it. For my 4 years degree thy issued me visa for 6 months only. Will my employer consider my expired SIN number?

It will expire in 2028.
