Part of my anxiety comes from the fact that if this takes months longer, I need to start applying for renewal on my PR. Just trying to wait it out as long as I can. I'm 9 months out now from it expiring.
I've applied for my PR renewal also now. Coz that too will take 3 months (or God knows how many months). If your PR expires in the next 9 months, I'd suggest applying for PR renewal now.

Just heard from a friend who applied 3 months after me (in May) that she got an email for ceremony on March 14. She is Vancouver office as well. She didn't even had a test done, when I already have all completed and yet she has her date.
This is becoming very painful.
No! thats not how it works, your PR card is more of a travel document than anything. you cant return to canada without it if you travel out of Canada. but please try and do your own research on this, dont take my word for it.
But i believe if you have your application in and you dont need to travel out of canada soon, you dont need to renew.

You wouldn't be at risk. PR card is not the same as Permanent residency. Although the card may expire, you are still a permanent resident until you renounce it or IRCC takes legal action to strip you of it. Just like how once you're a citizen and it doesn't matter if you have an expired passport
Not sure if it is for all the offices, but Montral is offering in-person pickup for the certificate. Mine will be ready for pickup on February 16, but if I fail to go on that day, they will mail it to my place. They said that the delay would be of 2-8 weeks tough, so I will make sure to go pick itup next week
Sorry for the confusion, of course she had passed the test. What I meant to say is that her test date was after I already had everything marked as completed, and yet she already got the invite.
She did the test in Dec, everything else marked completed mid January. I had test done in Nov and all competed in early Dec, but still no ceremony date.
It's frustrating cause it's not like they are working on my application, it's all done but I'm keep being skipped for the ceremony invite.
