Is anybody heading to the States after getting Canadian passport?
I'm creating this thread for those of you who wanna apply for TN visa after getting Canadian passport.
I'm gonna apply for jobs on indeed.com. I have US master's degree and related work experience in IT industry.
I remember they require a job offer and a 4-year secondary education diploma (minimum).
The job has to align with the list of allowed professions in TN visa, and job description should match but yeah pretty much what you said just get the offer letter and supporting documents at the border.
There's a cap on H1-B and current wait time is at least 10 years for Chinese or Indians so I'm thinking about making some money and switch to E-2 visa (100K USD will suffice) which is pretty much like a green card. You can renew it indefinitely instead of needing an employer.

**Just a friendly advice of being extremely careful when you deal with any thing with USCIS and it is not Canada Immigration****
E2 is an investor visa in case you wanna start a company in US but you cannot work for another employer or provide consulting service.
TN-1 is based on NAFTA and you pretty much need a job under the NAFTA job list and work back-word to match your experience/qualification/job description as per DOL/NAFTA. It is very reasonable and you can extend it indefinitely at any US entry point, however it is not a dual intent meaning cannot be used to file a GC.

What saying A_S is not really correct, you can switch from TN-VISA to green card i have a friend who personally did it, you also can find it on google. ( search on reddit.com ) it's totallly possible but you'll have to get a good lawyer though.. However i don't think it's appropriate to get the Canadian citizenship just so you can move to the US.
Also why do you want go to the US? i think the job market in China is much better i have personnally friends who make double what they make in the US with much lower inflation ( almost non-existent).

It's totally fine to get Canadian citizenship for any reason as long as the applicant qualifies for it and is not obtained by fraud. Everything else is personal choice.

you are saying it's not possible to go from Tn-visa to Green card, which is false it's possible a small google search will say it we don't need be an expert in US immigration to know it.
i agree that you have to proof that dual intent, but don't spread miss information by saying firmly no it's not possible.
It's totally fine to get Canadian citizenship for any reason as long as the applicant qualifies for it and is not obtained by fraud. Everything else is personal choice.

Again, your tone shows jealousy. Only "certain" countries are authoritative and runs on dictatorship that have ideology similar to yours and will implement such policies that does not value personal freedom.

it's not that easy to immigrate to the US whether you are Canadian or not. There is no express entry and aside from marriage, all other routes are complicated and costly. Some people may want to work in the US purely because the salary gap is quite wide. You can earn a lot more working in tech in Seattle than in Vancouver whereas the cost of living is comparable in these two cities. I suppose many would want to work in the US for a few years to earn money (for a downpayment for example) before coming back.

I absolutely believe in personal freedom, i am just stating the facts that canada did bring you here as an immigrant so you can improve it's econony that's why half million people are getting PR every year, if they all leave to the US the next day after getting the passport then what's the point?
I also know that salary in the US are much higher than Canada due to the super weak canadian dollar, however that's not a reason to leave the country that trusted you to boost it's economy, so you can go as an expert to boost the US which have strict immigration policies and won't allow you to come at first.
