Guys, I am a Aug 2022 aor candidate and got bg completed 2 weeks back. I reside in Ottawa so i am guessing I'll get test invite from Ottawa office. Is that right? Normally, how many weeks/months after bg check can i expect test invite? Thanks!

You're among the lucky ones! My test invite came almost a year after I applied (AOR Sept 2021) and 5-6 months after my background check was complete.

Just noticed that they closed the East Ottawa Service Canada and replaced it with a Passport office in Orleans. Hopefully that means even faster passport processing.

Wow, apparently they did the same for the Ottawa West Service Canada on Meadowlands Drive, where I had gone on Sept 26. It's now Ottawa West Service Canada Centre and Passport Services, and you don't need proof of travel to apply for a passport there. I had been told to expect my passport in early February, so I hope with the progress they have made tackling the backlog, it will be sooner than that.

Most of the backlog has probably been tackled already but I think about a million people travel South for the winter, so there could be some volume still being processed through the system.

Ooph that's true, the snowbirds! Well now that it has passed midnight here, I have just passed one month since applying for the passport, so I'm going to request a status update, since they had told me that I could do so after 20 business days.

Took my oath on Oct 18th. ECAS updated yesterday and the new tracker updated this morning. Just waiting for the certificate now.

Thanks. I applied in August last year. Test in February. Everything completed in July and oath on Oct 18. I do believe that most Ottawa oaths are being processed by Niagara Falls. I received my test invites from Ottawa but my Oath occurred with Niagara.

Great! I am based out of Ottawa too, my BG completed on Oct 6th, 2022. 3 weeks over, still waiting for test invite.

Many of them are, I guess because Ottawa is sooo slow and backlogged. Looks like everyone in Ottawa whose processing time is not super slow is processed by Niagara Falls or some other office.

it seems my file is still in sydney, ns. Is it likely that it is going to be completely processed sydney or just that it hasn't been transferred yet ?

Everyone's file starts out in Sydney. It will get sent to another office for test scheduling, and then that office will become your primary office.

Are all Ottawa applications processed from Niagara office?

on my test it said Ottawa for me ,back in April, 11 months after my BG check. Ottawa is extremely slow, so if you are with Niagara it s better for you. I heard applications that are more recent than peak covid (mid 2020 to mid 2021) are processing faster that being said.
