Hi, I am an electrical from China, with a Spouse Open Work Permit right now. I have a job offer from Ontario Power Generation as a designer for Ontario Nuclear Power Plants.

I can not find one way to keep working here if I do not have the Spouse Open Work Permit, or what can I do after the expiration?

Does there have any way for me to apply a single work permit for me?

Please help, or give me some advice.

Post this job offer. There’s currently a scam online offering non existent jobs at OPG

ALERT: OPG has been alerted to fraudulent recruitment activities happening on LinkedIn and possible other social media platforms. Someone is posing as an OPG recruiter reaching out to job seekers about false job opportunities, and asking for sensitive information. These offers are NOT from OPG. We place the utmost importance on maintaining the privacy of job applicants, and we are conducting a thorough investigation.

The question is that person is on an SOWP and wants to work after it expires. OP you would need to apply for PR or get an approved LMIA from an employer proving no Canadian could be hired and then you apply for a closed work permit.

As for OPG, assume you went through the OPG site and applied directly through them.

Thanks a lot bro
I got this job from OPG official website, and pass the two interviews. Right now I am on security clearance, I have to wait 3 months the recruiter told me.
It's really a long time. I think there should be at least one way to apply a work permit for this kind of international engineer. Maybe I am not correct.

If you are on an open work permit, you can work as long as your work permit is valid. Or you ask OPG for a LMIA and then you apply for a closed work permit.

You may also qualify for GSS which is the high skilled faster processing closed WP. Not the 2 weeks as advertised but 1-3 months. Have you applied for PR? That could also means you qualify for a BOWP.

Does there possible they do not want to hire me anymore after I ask for the LIMA?
BTW, is the LIMA for a single individual person? Every individual person needs the company LIMA, it can't be used for every person in company.
Is that right?

Yes, LMIAs are for single individuals.

OPG is an Ontario government crown corporations so not sure they would apply for LMIA. Asking for a LMIA has nothing to do with their job offer. Assume your job is a contract position.

Thanks,
Yes, my offer is under contract until 2026, I am not sure it will be continued as a senior engineer after that.
Maybe it is better for me to get PR first and then keep on working here.
Actually, I am so disappointed there is no perfect way for a person who just wants to work here for a few years.
