Just got off the phone with IRCC agent. She told me the file is in progress (Whitehorse), medical is passed, background is in progress, they've not updated the PCC which I sent via webform 6 weeks back and security hasn't even started. Looks like I'll get my PR within next 8-10 months (-_-)
I know it’s so annoying man but be hopeful. For me, my eligibility passed last Monday, medical and security last Thursday and criminality yesterday, so you never know! They can pass everything in one day if they’ve been working in the background and just never updated things in real time

I held several study permits before all of this happened, applied again before each expired, studied & worked under maintained status during Covid, and am still studying & working now under my latest permit.

In hindsight (& with the help of a friend), applying for that old work permit was a mistake but I didn’t know it at the time. I was ‘ineligible’ (but it shouldn’t have taken 3.5 years for IRCC figure that out) and it became ‘irrelevant’ because I no longer work for that company and already have the ability to work under my Study permit even though HR had me wrongly convinced that I needed to apply for a separate Work permit. Eventually, we all get a little smarter!
Just out of curiosity, you mentioned before that you are representing someone. So, is this information related to you or your friend?

"Well @maxiie, that's a rather personal question ;) ... but in the interest of full-disclosure, I am a female Canadian unpaid representative for a family friend who is male from Nigeria. I report on his timeline and share info I have gathered assisting him."

The above is still accurate. I write from his point of view.

This is a bit long & I haven’t wanted to bore anyone with these details until now, and there is a reason.

My student visa application from mid-Jan 2020 did not get processed until mid-July 2022 — 30 months or 2.5 years! (And, a work permit from Jan 2019 took 3.5 years!!!) Registered letters to the Edmonton CPC processing office and getting my MP involved did absolutely nothing to move these files along. Phone calls did nothing but confirm my maintained status. I never got a response from anyone until they actually started looking at both of these in July 2022. I attended school & worked these past several years under maintained status. Meanwhile, I applied for TR2PR in June 2021. So, up until July 2022, I had 3 applications in IRCC’s backlog—one single person with 3 applications for no other reason than changes in personal circumstances and time passing. The work permit application was so old that it became irrelevant/not eligible. When they finally re-approved my Study permit, they issued it as ‘on campus’ work only even though I am completely eligible on every criteria for off campus work. So, I applied for the OWP under TR2PR at the end of July because the current average processing times for amending ‘mistakes’ is around 26 weeks & I had a new off campus job offer waiting on the new permit. A week later they did amend the Study permit to allow off campus work. So I went from 3, down to 1, and now back up to 2 applications in processing.

In comparison, I’ve now been waiting 14.5 months since applying on TR2PR & 3.5 months since AOR. I’m not excusing IRCC’s poor performance, but I am encouraging people not to interpret delays & long processing times on your personal files as meaning something other than what it is—IRCC’s poor performance. Be proactive wherever you can, respond to requests quickly, but don’t let it get you down — reach out to friends & family and know that these crazy processing issues & inconsistencies are not a reflection of your worth.
Not boring at all , and it helps a lot for all to understand that they are not exceptions, singularities or black sheep. The issue of IRCC is not speed. There has been a global crisis and unlike many of our countries that are almost always in crisis of different kinds, Canada is rather a calm and under-populated country, not very much experienced in handling large scale crisis...we get it. Issue is transparency...the more I think, the less I see any reason not making more fine grained processing stages progress information available to applicant through the web, together with a none-committed estimate of final decision date. All tools needed for this already exists. Lack of transparency ends up to time pressure and many more requests to process and answer, which makes situation worse. I myself applied to a second PR ( PNP ) just because I had no idea whats happening in TR to PR, and I was ready to apply to a 3rd one if my AOR would not arrive.

I still remember how few ppl applied tr to pr by sending multiple applications and flooding the entire system just for some silly blunders hmmm...and unfairly occupying someone else time energy...and now sep 8th again ppl are looking forward to apply thrice or if am not mistaken more than thrice for pr. ( yes people sending 4 pr applications due to no update). i wonder what happens next..i applied by sending single application but yes few mistakes here n there..still waiting positively n patiently for my turn 1 day...

But from the minister's interview, he mentioned that he would like to create a permanent pathway, not a temporary one. You can imagine people who already applied for PNP, tr2pr IG/NHC/HC submitting the third application for this new program if it comes.

I think, taking more time wouldn't be a problem for most applicants only if they give a reasonable deadline.

I dont think any one can be blamed for natural outcomes of a system with near-zero transparency, a mere black box. I personally tried a lot to find out whats going on before applying to PNP...ZERO feedback for almost a year, and finally I got my TFN only after I almost cried in front of MP. Why should people spend 1000+ dollars on each of these applications if they dont have important matters to finalize in their lives ? Wouldnt it be more human if they would SIMPLY say your file is queued for processing and it will be processed in 2022 ? or 2023 ? or 2100 ?

The same irrelevant reason they post ** There is no processing time for this pathway ** I wish some1 invented a processing time travel machine for this pathway hmm...Wish the system was more transparent n abt me im done and dusted applying just 1 pr application n 1 wp extsn. I would rather spend the same amount if money in something else..as now i just need some peace of mind after going through all this trauma , stress n depression

Hello everyone,

First of all, this thread was very helpful to me and there was no single day when I did not check this thread. Below is my complete timeline.

Essential Non-Healthcare May 27
BIL: 21 Feb
Medical Passed: 21 Feb (Linked same day) and then changed to do not need on June 3 and then changed to passed on July 25
Biometric Done: 23 Feb
AOR: 22 Feb
Criminality: In Progress (It was passed earlier and then changed from Passed to In Progress after GU on June 17) and then passed on August 17 with a Ghost Update
Info Sharing: Completed
Eligibility: Passed on July 25 (No Ghost Update for this one though)
Security: Passed on August 10 with a Ghost Update
ADR in review from April 11

PR Approval email on August 19.
PR Portal Credential on August 22.
E-COPR on September 2

My file was touched first time on July 20 (based on GCMS) and before July 20 I had only criminality in progress and Security & Eligibility were not started.

My primary office was Whitehorse through out. The secondary office was Sydney first and then it was changed to Calgary after passing my eligibility.

Thanks everyone. I hope everyone gets their PR as soon as possible.
