Hello i am an international student who arrived in canada recently. I underwent my full semester at a DLI this fall 2021 [paid tuition and eveything] but due to family situation and cost, i Chnaged my DLI yesterday

i’ve only been is that enough? i’ve only been in canada for about 5/6 days but i’ve been actively studying? Is what i did okay?

Just wanted to know if someone arrives Canada and wants to change DLI, If the applicant needs new Study permit. Meanwhile the person have not started the first university.

IRCC changed the rules last year. Your permit was approved based on your original DLI and program. Now you have to actively study at the DLI on your permit for at least a semester (or year) and then you can change. The reason is that many people got admission to say, a masters, and then came to Canada and changed to a diploma program at a college.

IRCC only changed this rule recently. Your friend would have fallen under the old rules.
