Hello,

I have the same timeline.

Feb 17 - AOR
Feb 17 - Biometrics and PCC requested. I submitted on the same day.
April 8 - Medical Passed
April 13 - We are reviewing the additional documents

After that, I have not received any updates. My criminality is in progress while eligibility and security hasn't started.

my timeline. It's a mess
TR to PR, IG
  • Applied: May 6th, 2021
  • Account Linked: Dec 30th, 2021
  • Request for Medical: Jan 4th, 2022, medical exam request submitted
  • Exam approved: Jan 20th, 2022
  • I found I forgot to sign my name on IMM0008 (the form with 2D barcodes) so I re-submitted that form: April 5th, 2022 ( I'm still not sure if I'm doing this right. I print out the form and manually sign it then scanned the signed form.
  • no updated to date June 20th, 2022...

Does anyone have any clue? I'm thinking of applying for another program...
Wait, do not apply for another program yet. You’ll get it soon!

Hey! It is a good sign. Please keep updating.
Thanks
That means that IRCC is conducting background checks with CBSA and CSIS. The updates won’t be visible to you. Background Check has three steps. When one is passed, profile gets updated. People call it ghost update because you won’t see it. After three steps of Background Check are done, you’ll get portal request!

Given IRCC's 2022 budget forecast that they will be processing about 40,000 of the remaining (those not processed in 2021) TR to PR applications in 2022 and then the remaining 32,000 in 2023, this means there are now many people waiting for progress through this year. I think IRCC is trying to get as many people linked as possible to help cut down the number of inquiries about 'why can't I see or link my account' but that does not mean they will be able to completely process everyone in 2022.

Unless you know for sure that your application will be rejected (which it shouldn't be if you were eligible & provided all necessary documentation), or if you have some other urgent circumstance, I would save my money, be patient and not bog down the system with another application. Given your timeline and the fact that you started seeing progress in Jan and none since, I would request the GCMS notes to see if you can identify any issues that might be holding up your case, and then try to proactively address them through a Webform letter of explanation with or without supporting documents. This is what I will be doing if I don't hear anything further by the end of June.
IRCC won’t give AORs or let people link applications. The only reason people get AOR is that their file is under process now and won’t be held unnecessarily unless there is a reason. Background Checks usually are the cause taking anywhere between a week to 6 months and over. Depending on the travel history and particular details, CBSA and CSIS can take a lot of time to do background checks. IRCC can’t proceed unless that is done first. Pretty sure that this person’s application isn’t just sitting around waiting to be processed. It’s actively under process and will be processed this years. IRCC tends to have a batch for AORs and then a batch for portal requests.

Can you get a GU with an email?
In other words, can the status be changed to profile updated without receiving an email?
Yes, that's what makes it a 'ghost update.' The GU I received was without an email notification -- I simply went in to the main page of my account to check the status and then saw that 'submitted' had changed to 'profile updated'. When I clicked to go into the details of my TR to PR application and saw that nothing had actually changed (from the previous day), I realized that this was a GU. When I went back out to my main account page, the status was changed back to 'submitted'. It most likely means that someone was looking at or processing something about your file but not every action taken on IRCC's side of your account is necessarily significant enough to trigger a change to what we see on our side of our accounts.

Thank you Agrewal98. I agree and didn't mean to imply that IRCC would allow linking of accounts just to allow linking while not also initiating processing. For some applicants though, like me & many others, there is a fine distinction between getting a formal AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt letter/document) from IRCC and simply 'discovering' that you have been provided with a formal Application Number by being able to link to your account using other details from your application (UCI, passport #, place of birth, etc.). I have assumed that IRCC has confirmed that my application is being processed by allowing me to link, sending a request for a new medical through my account, passing the medical, and stating on my account that they are processing my application, but they have never provided an actual AOR LETTER. By having only a formal Application Number and not a formal Acknowledgement of Receipt letter, do you think I should have cause for concern? Or are you equating the assignment of an Application Number (that is not a temporary application number) as being the same as getting a formal AOR Letter? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hi all,
I know this is not the right section but I am kinda worried for the following reason:

1. 11th October, I applied for the Tr to Pr pathway under French international graduate.
2. 21st October, I applied for an open work permit under TR to PR policy.
3. I received an open work permit valid until 31st Dec 2022.

So my question is, if by September I do not receive or get approved for my permanent residency - what would be the next step:
Apply for a bridging work permit - or apply under maintained status?

Kindly advise, because I need to travel in December and I really hope there is an alternate solution.

Kind Regards,
Ridwaan
