Can I just get a hands up from early 2020 Ottawa applicants still waiting for the Oath? It has been 7 months since I passed my test and am starting to feel like someone accidentally left me behind!

No. It's pointless.
"Tradition" is meaningless.
It isn't "historic".
Causing unnecessary delay is not "respect".
Does anyone here feel respected by this de-humanizing farce? Both the citizenship test and the oath are completely pointless and should be scrapped. Being forced to pledge allegiance to a monarch is a humiliation. Monarchies, even ceremonial ones, are an affront to democracy.
These people would be the first to be hung during a revolt, you know. French people overturned 6 monarchies just to set up republic. My hat's off to the French.
Only a beehive needs a "queen"...

I am not, though there is certainly no love lost between Donald Trump and I (to say the least). I've been in Canada since 2014 (grad student, work permit, PR under Express Entry, and now awaiting citizenship).

Canadians don't like Americans! I can't even tell anyone I graduated in MO. I always hear them badmouthing the States out of maybe jealousy something (new immigrants don't care).

Not looking to take this thread too off topic/go down a rabbit hole, but I can't let such a blanket statement that completely contradicts my experience as an American living in Canada for 8 years pass without saying something. Perhaps I've been lucky, but "Canadians don't like Americans" has not been my experience at all. I feel incredibly lucky to be here, and am grateful for the way I've been embraced by Canadians.

Same here. I got the test completed in janaury and dm on the 25th of Jan. August 2020 applicant from Ottawa as well. .I can't imagine how waiting for seven months after the test would feel like. I keep hoping everytime I check the tracker that today will be the day.

That's because of constant bad propaganda on the Canadian main stream news that US is a bad place. Also, Canadian identity is very much dependent on not being American.
