My wife completed 32 months since application date and 17 months since the date she submitted the RQ. She applied in June 2011 in Mississuaga , did the test in jan 2012, received RQ in July 2012, submitted RQ in August 2012. She called CIC and they advised that the file in Queue and they will reply to her in 35 months of the date they citizenship application was received ( which is June 2014) . We think that she got the RQ because she did not take with her a certified translation for her passport so the officer got confused of the Arabic stamps.
My question is, would the MP (Mississuaga in her case) help in speeding her file cuz she has been waiting a lot and has almost doubled the residency requirements ??
Many people are reporting not having much luck getting MPs to do anything other than make an inquiry. The MP is then just given the usual party line by CIC. I don't see how it could hurt any though.

I contacted my MP and the Minister and told them that one the reason why I wanted citizenship was to vote in federal and provincial elections...I did it after I sent the application, received on April 8...in October got the RQ, and two weeks ago I received a notification to prepare for the test, I am not sure it has to do anything with the letters.
Please contact your MP. It absolutely won't hurt anything, and it helps put pressure on the government to resolve the ridiculous wait times. It might even help your wife's case some tiny bit.
Why do you need a certified translation of her passport? Care to explain. I have some stamps that are in Arabic when I went to Syria in 2006.
