I am an international student doing chef training course .it will finish in august 2013.my student visa is until march 2015. i received an Lmo from an employer where my friend is working.it is for 2 years.i will get PGWP for 1 year after studies.can i apply for work permit without applying for PGWP as it is for 2 yrs? i know it is a closed work permit but i am not sure whether i will get LMO after my 1 YR stay back.that is why i am thinking of this option.can you give me a suggestion?
Is your LMO as a skilled worker? and is your goal to be a permanent resident of Canada after all of this? If so go for it! After one year you can apply for PR under CEC. Once you get eligibility you can apply for an open work permit anyways or a bridging open permit. (look it up on the cic website.)
Although there is no possibility that by the time you are ready to apply for PR all the rules will be the same.

Yes, my job offer is as a cook which comes under NOC (6322) B.and i have a plan to apply under CEC for Permanent residence.so can i proceed with my work permit application along with the LMO after my studies without applying PGWP? Kindly give me a reply.

Disadvantage LMO:
Tied to specific employer. If I quit or am fired, I'm screwed for working until a new LMO. And who sais I'll get one.
Advatage PGWP:
Open workpermit. Can work for anyone. No need for an LMO. If I get fired or I quit, I can take another job anywhere even if it isn't what I'm trained to do, while looking for the right job.
