Hello everyone,

So I have worked at Canada for 1 year and 4 months under NOC 1241, and now my pgwp has expired. I have 3 questions.
1) I am wondering if I want to get the bonus points for foreign work experience, do I have to work under the same NOC?
2) I have worked at my home country for the last 4 months under the same NOC code. However, I have some family issues that I have to quit my job, and will look for a new job early next year. Do I have to find a job that has a NOC code that will match my last job? And if I find a new job and work for another 8 months will it count as 1 year foreign work experience?
3) I will also apply for IEC 2020 as well. If I go back to my old company and work for another 8 months, does it count as 2 years Canada work experience? If I plan to work at somewhere else, do I have to work under NOC 1241 as well?

Thanks.

"bonus"? There are CRS points for foreign work experience, does not have to be the same NOC as your Canadian experience.

2) I have worked at my home country for the last 4 months under the same NOC code. However, I have some family issues that I have to quit my job, and will look for a new job early next year. Do I have to find a job that has a NOC code that will match my last job?
No.

And if I find a new job and work for another 8 months will it count as 1 year foreign work experience?
As long as you can document a minimum of 52 weeks of full-time skilled experience, yes.

3) I will also apply for IEC 2020 as well. If I go back to my old company and work for another 8 months, does it count as 2 years Canada work experience?
For 2 years, you will need 104 weeks of cumulative full-time skilled work experience. Does not matter if there was a gap. You would need to make sure that at least 52 weeks are within 3 years of your application date.

If I plan to work at somewhere else, do I have to work under NOC 1241 as well?
No.
