I want to study in Canada to get permanent residency and a job afterwards. Do work study programs help me cover my tuition costs? I have housing, I just need money for tuition. (I'm going to be in Ontario)
They can help offset some of your living expenses but, depending on your program, are probably not enough to cover tuition, etc.
Also note that you will have to convince the visa officer that you can afford to pay for your study and living expenses without working in order to be issued a study permit.

Working will not fully cover the costs of your tuition. Also, even if you already have housing, you must still show that you have full funds to cover living expenses in order for the study permit to be approved. This means that when you apply for the study permit, you need to have enough funds available to cover first year tuition + an additional $10,000 in living expenses. Without this, the study permit will be refused.
