Hi,
I am about to complete one year of work experience and planning to apply for CEC. I started as full time employee in Sept 2012 but from Sept till November Mid i worked on Off-Campus work permit waiting for my Post Graduation Work Permit. Can I include this time period in my CEC application as I was not involved in studies after August and was graduated.
Previous replies are right. This is for your benefit! We have seen an increased number of rejections due to miscalculation or confusion about qualifying experience. To make it simple.....only skilled experience after you have graduated will be counted. And by graduated, they mean the convocation when you have received your credentials. I would even suggest giving yourself a buffer of a few weeks before submitting. Many have done so and now do not need to worry about the potential for having less than required (hours or weeks). Besides, now with BOWP, you do not need to rush anymore, you can extend your stay while they process your app quite easily.
Just remember....if you have any overlap between education and experience - even the slightest detail - can set off flags and require additional more extensive review by the VO. Better safe than sorry! Good luck...
Section 9.11 “Work experience” provides that the work experience must have been acquired after obtaining the Canadian educational credential. Pre-graduate work experience is not recognized, including “work performed under the Off-Campus Work Permit Program or on a co-op work term
if work on valid off campus work permit will count.
