Work permit Title and Roles mismatch (NOC )

Hello all,

I am all set to apply for PR under CEC before I realise that my Work permit title ( Occupation) does not go inline with my roles and responsibilities. I am a mechanical engineer (NOC: 2132) and performing the roles of CAD work where as my Work permit has a different title (Computer analyst: 2171).


The employer supporting letter for work permit extension has NOC : 2171

Please suggest what is the NOC Code should I apply on. Is it with workpermit title or based on my day to day roles and responsibilities. If so what should be the supporting document for this?

As you said, The employer supporting letter for work permit extension has NOC : 2171 as well your work permit also shows as 2171 then you need file PR under 2171 only. Get reference letter from employer with matching jobs and responsibilities, which was submitted for work permit extension under 2171. Hope this clarifies
CIC is not aware you are doing CAD work bcz no documentation was submitted earlier, right?

You need to go with responsibilities and matching NOC code.

In my employer supporting letter roles & responsibilities mentioned matches my profile...
however NOC code was different.
