Work permit expiring before PR issued?

Hello

I applied for PR through express entry on Sept 28th.

I'm still waiting on response. I paid PPRF in the beginning/middle of Nov. My status hasn't changed ever since - still shows the application is in progress.

My work permit expires in Oct 2018. I'm worried that id my application gers rejected, what should I do? Should I try and extend the work permit - I have a full time job but not sure if my employer can help.
