My work permit is expiring on Dec 29 this year.
My wife is pregnant and about to give birth to my child around Dec 20 this year.
She holds a PR but I have only the Post-graduate Work Permit.
I wish to accompany her with the birth for the next half year so I can take care of the child and her.
Questions:
A. Can I apply for the EI parental benefit on the day that the baby born?
B. Since the SIN will expire on the same date as my work permit expires, will I still able to get the EI payments?
C. If I plan to accompany her for at least 5 months after the baby born(April, 2020). What application should I apply and when should I do so?(Extend work permit? Apply for Visitor Visa? Apply for visitor record? etc.)
D. Is there other options that you think is good suggestions for us?
