My work permit application was denied. In the Refusal Letter, the Officer wrote that Foreign students in Canada are eligible for a PGWP only if they maintained full time student status in Canada during each academic session. It was only in one semester that I took 2 courses, I initially registered for 3 courses for that semester but my University removed me from the 3rd course because I did not get the minimum grade needed for the pre-requisite course that I took in the previous semester. During the semester, that I did not get the minimum grade, I was depressed and my mental health was messed up because I could not adjust to the content of the courses and during that period that I took 2 courses, I did not work at all and was not earning any wages During my last 2 final semesters, I only had a total of 6 courses left to complete my degree and I was to split it into 3 each for the 2 semesters remaining, I was only able to get into 2 courses in each semesters and I was on waitlist for the 3rd courses for both the semesters and when I noticed that there is no way I can get into the class because my position on the waitlist was far, I applied for Letter of permission from my University to take the remaining 2 courses in another Universities for each of the semester while also taking courses in my main University as well. I was wondering if this might have contributed to my PGWP being denied. Please is there anything I can do because my parents and I have invested alot of money, time sweat and tears in my education. Please someone help me. Thank you

To be eligible for a PGWP, you MUST be a full-time student for every semester except the last semester. If you weren’t then you are not eligible. You seem to have several semesters that were part-time. You mention one semester as part-time and the 2 final semesters as part-time.

You can ask for reconsideration but you need to get a letter of approval from the school saying that you were allowed to be part-time. Include doctor’s notes for your mental health.

If still refused, then take another program if you want to work in Canada under PGWP. Or leave Canada and get a job in your home country.
