I originally received my CSQ as a skilled worker 3 months after my marriage to my husband. Then we applied for PR through sponsorship and step one was completed in 6 days Nov. 29, 2012. I am trying to get an open work permit for Quebec. Went to the border after 2 lawyers advised I would be able to get an open work permit and they turned us away. Anyone know about open work permit for US Citizen outside Canada being sponsored with sponsor approval (step1)? I have an offer but I would prefer an open permit
An open work permit after stage one approval from my understanding, is only available if you apply inland. I had a border officer tell me that you can get one applying outland strangely enough. But I'm pretty sure you can't.
For US citizen for certain categories of job you can get a work permit at the border.
Google NAFTA on this forum and you will have more information about it.
Good luck,
Sweden
Thank you, I guess I will go the job sponsored route as the commuting since 10/2010 has been rough and I'll take anything to be up here permanently with my husband
;D ;D ;D
