Hello guys

I am working in a framing company doing construction i work there more than one year as a rough carpenter. I am getting paid with cheques i dont have t4 or paystubs and also i dont have any business under my name. I just have t5018 that is for subcontractors. Is anyone knows what happened with my work experience everything is so confused with that. Do i consider as employee or self employer? Do i qualify for one year work experience?

I am looking forward to your help
Thanks

Have a look at the CRA rules to see if you qualify for employee status or self-employed status:

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pub/tg/rc4110/rc4110-15e.pdf

Some types of employment can be a bit of a mixed bag so that should help you get the right idea. Whenever you file your income tax return, you need to know anyway, whether you count as employed or self-employed so best to figure it out now.

It sounds like you are self-employed; a sole proprietor is not required to be incorporated. Have you not filed your tax return for 2015?

Chances are your experience will not count, but read the information at the link that Andre provided...

That was my thought too. Whatever you end up claiming on your ee profile, it should match your tax return so make sure that there arent any discrepancies there.

When you filed your last tax return, did you claim self-employment or not?
