Hi,
It is not your typical question on this forum. I am Canadian in Quebec, sponsorsing my spouse outland. Applied few months ago. Haven't applied for CSQ yet. Got Biometric but spouse did not do yet (I think my spouse did not do it). Our relationship is unstable and we are moving towards separation. I discovered that my spouse is interested in immigration mainly. There is a very little chance of conciliation. Two weeks ago, I sent a written request through webform to IRCC asking for withdrawal. I mentioned that I am withdrawing due to plan changes and that we might apply in the future. Not only they have not replied nor confirmed withdrawal, but they recently moved the background check from not started to in progress. I am worried that I will be stuck with the sponsorship. IRCC says I can withdraw 'before a decision is made'. Logically, without applying for CSQ, IRCC won't reach a decision making stage, unless they have a different definition for decision making. Can you please tell me please the risks I am running for being stuck with undesired sponsorship? Thanks!
