Will this deteriorating diplomatic relationship between Canada and Russia negatively affect my wife’s chance of being approved for spousal visa?

My wife (Russian) and I have been together for 4 years (2 of which we were physically together for), and finally got married last year.
This terrible war have happened as we are preparing for the necessary documents, and currently extremely worried that this would negatively affect our chances of being together in Canada.
My wife’s mother’s side is Ukrainian, and I’m worried for her well-being there as the situation within Russia gets crazier by day.
I haven’t seen anything regarding this yet on the immigration website, thought maybe someone here would have better insight on this matter.

The war should not impact her chances of being approved. That's based on your relationship not politics.
The only potential issue I could see is if stuff continues to go south, visa offices could shut down (which would result in application being transferred to other VOs) or processing times could slow down. That could create longer processing times for your application and mean you have to wait longer.

Although the possible delay in application would be unfortunate, but I feel more at ease to know that the diplomatic situation won’t be a factor in the success of relationship.
The political relation between Canada and Russia will not play a factor here. There have been other people in these forums with Russian spouses who just recently got their passport requests. My spouse is also Russian FYI and our application is proceeding at the same rate as others submitted around the same time.

I see... that’s really good to hear. Thank you very much for sharing this with me. I sincerely hope that everything will go well with your application, and you and your wife can be happy together here in Canada.
