I came to Canada on work permit 1.5 years back. At that time, I mentioned my spouse name and kid name in my application.Due to some personal issues, we got divorced and spouse took child custody completely and both mother and child are no longer in touch. My spouse and Kid never landed in Canada and they does not have Visitor visa too. I dont have my kid birth certificate even . Recently, I created express entry profile as status as divorced and received ITA. I am yet to update my marital status as divorced in my passport.
Can someone pls suggest how can I handle this ITA ? I have official divorce and custody documents. Should I update my UCI as divorced ?

Update your file with proof of divorce and no custody. Still could be an issue since IRCc does not like children to not be included as part of a PR application.

what if adding dependants lowers the score ? One PR > No PR !

If you can get your ex-spouse's cooperation, the child can be included as non-accompanying.
I believe that won't affect your score.

Would suggest contacting your ex to start the discussion about including your child on the application as non-accompanying. Attempting to not include your child will likely increase processing time and IRCC typically wants to show that you have exhausted all efforts to include a child on a PR application. I would also start collecting the child’s information. They’ll also have to do a medical which I would offer to pay for. You can tell your ex that this will open up possibilities for your child when they get older if they may want to study or work abroad up to age 22.

I couldn't contact. Will IRCC ask birth certificate? I don't have that even ..
