hallo,
wy wife and i moved to montreal, for a new job. she recieved a close work permit and mine is an open one.
she got fired, after working for six monthes.
im taking french at mcgill, and applied for a studant permit. in addition to that, we applied for owp, for my wife.
we attached a letter which explains the reason for the application to an open working permit since she can no longer use her cwp.
my quesions -
1. do you think that there's a chance that my wifes application will be appruved?
2. does she allowd to work for another employer, while having a close working permit, and a letter of dismissal?
3. any other suggestions?
thanks in advance
shay

Re: wife fired after four months, while working on a -cwp

sorry, i think you konw what i meant. thanks god for the icons...
;) ::)

1. On what basis did she apply for the OWP? (Your study permit hasn't been approved yet - correct?) Being unable to use her closed work permit does not qualify her to apply for an OWP. I don't believe she qualifies for an OWP and you should expect a refusal.
2. No - she can't work for a new employer with her old closed work permit (this is completely illegal). Once she finds a new employer, that new employer will have to obtain a new LMO and then your wife will have to obtain a new closed work permit.
3. See above. New employer + new LMO + new work permit is the way to go.

thanks for your prompt reply.
we actaually sent a new request under my name.
once my student permit will be approved, isn't she eligable for an owp as mine accompaning sppouse?
sould i axpect a rfusal to my application for a student permit?
thanks again

shayl
