Why on earth does a 7-year old need a "letter of acceptance"?

Hello everyone,

I am coming as an international student to Quebec. My daughter and I have already got our CAQs and now ready to apply for study permits. The study permit online application asks for my daughter's CAQ as well as a letter of acceptance. Do we need a letter of acceptance from a primary school for her? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Yes it's better if u submit. I have submitted my daughter's letter of acceptance too for her grade 4 which was just a screenshot of the email confirming her admission from the school.

Thanks for your reply. My daughter does not have a primary school admission, as that was not needed when we applied for the CAQ. How can we get one?

Oh ok. Sorry dear I'm not sure how u could get it in ur case. Perhaps it was a bit easy for me to find a private school for her since I was already in canada (Ontario) on visit visa and have been surveying different schools and ended up getting an admission in one of them.

You don't need a letter of acceptance. As she will be accompanying a parent who is a study permit holder, she is exempt from that requirement.

If the minor is in Canada with a family member who got a work or study permit before entering Canada, they don’t need to send us the letter of acceptance.

Thanks for your reply. I noticed the statement says "if the minor is in Canada....", but in our case we are applying out of Canada. Does that make a difference? Also, what should I upload to the online system? Should I just upload my letter of acceptance where it asks for my daughter's?

No, it doesn't make a difference. Include a letter of explanation in place.
