Hello Friends,

Please advise whom my parents need to contact for getting Russian criminal records for their sponsorship application.

They are no longer Russian citizens as been living in Israel for 25 years. Should they contact Russian embassy in Israel or in Russia? And how long it takes for them to process the records?

Any advise is highly appreciated!

The consulate or embassy should be able to do it. The consulate in Toronto was able to issue one for my wife in under a week -- 28 days at the Department of Internal Affairs in Moscow. They also usually translate as well.

Many thanks for your quick reply! My parents live in Israel now, so can I still contact the consulate in Toronto for that kind of request?

After approving me as a sponsor the application was transferred to the Israeli embassy, so I assumed that it has to be done there or in Russia..

Thank you again.
A.

Yeah I would try the Israel consulate or embassy of the Russian Federation's website first. But I am certain Toronto can do it for you just as easily. And you can get it in english.

I will save you the frustration my wife had. There is a form that is required to fill out. Toronto's consulate has a website with the form in english and russian. You download and they fill out (one each). They require a money order (here in Canada), and they will write it directly in english. You send a self addressed stamped envelope with your requests and they will send it back once completed. Fee was $14 to translate. In russian it was free. That is an each amount.

Want a link?

Yes, please send me the link.

Thank you for your kindness.

Don't worry about it...

Here is Toronto's Police Certificate services page: http://toronto.kdmid.ru/en.aspx?lst=en&it=/Police%20Clearance%20Certificate.aspx

Do not make an appointment...it doesn't work ;).

All by mail...

So no appointment is required just to fill out the request and wait?

Fill it out, photocopy passport and send it in, then wait. My wife did notarise her passport, though I am not sure if it's required.

When it's done it will be in your mailbox...

If you have to speak to them, they are terribly frustrating and offer differing information.
