Hi All,

I am so lucky to find this forum.

I am a 32 year old british who holds a British passport. I have a Master Chemistry Degree obtained 2010. I worked in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs for 4 years before leaving this profession and pursuing a PhD in chemical Engineering were I recently obtained my certificate in 2018. I have no kids. I would like to move to Canada i.e. British colombia or Ontario to pursue a career as a Preclinical Formulation Scientist which is my current role. My question is that what Canadian visa should I be apply for, please kindly help? Also why is that I do not qualify for the express work visa?

thanks so much

There is no such thing as an "express work visa". If you are referring to immigration through Express Entry, no one here can tell you if you qualify. You would need to research the different economic immigration streams to see if you qualify for one and then calculate your CRS score. Look at PNP programs as well.

If you want a work permit, you will need to a job offer from an employer with a positive LMIA. The LMIA process is long, has strict requirements and costs the employer $1000, so it is generally very difficult to find an employer willing to do it.

With that high a CRS score, don't waste your time with PNP. Just aim for Express Entry under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. You'll get an Invitation To Apply almost immediately.

You are looking for a very specific job so would look at whether there are jobs available in your field. You are in a good position with a good job in the UK and still have access to jobs in the EU. Would not try to immigrate unless you have a good chance at finding a similar job. You really have to look hard at what you are trying to get out of immigrating to Canada.

That is high for someone with no Canadian work experience/education and no job offer. What is the breakdown? Have you already done your language test and had your education assessed?

You are showing 72 points for 4 years of Canadian work experience. Do you have that? If not, your score is 480, which is still high enough to be selected.
