Hi guys,

Hoping someone can answer my query: I have been offered a job working at a summer camp for 3 months in Canada. This post is classed as voluntary but the camp have said that a bursary is offered at the end of the work to compensate outgoings etc.

Which visa should I apply for?? I'm weighing what would be best between standard temp/open/IEC programme

It's a religious camp so part of the job description is spiritual counselling - does that mean the job is visa exempt? It doesn't require a LMO but is full time work so doesn't fall under the band of 'part time exempt' work.

Do I pick the standard work permit, or am I best to opt for an open one? Or would it be easier to apply under the IEC programme and stay in Canada longer?

Any help on this would be MUCH appreciated as I have to decide this week!!

:D

1. You require a closed work permit as a camp counsellor, (Or IEC if you are eligible) you don't require a LMO if the camp is a run by a religious organization See: Sec 5.39 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/fw/fw01-eng.pdf
2. It is either spiritual counselling or camp counsellor. Spiritual counselling are admitted as visitors but only for congregational work.
3. You won't get an open work permit.
