Hello All,

I am student in USA and my boy friend has come just in Canada on FSW. He will get his PR card by next month.

I have my visitor visa for Canada with multiple entry and it will get over in 2022.

I have few questions for my sponsorship.

Which is the best way?
1) In-land application ?
2)outland application ?
3) Pilot program for open work permit?

I am looking fro any lawyer who can guide us on this?

Can please anybody guide me on this?

Outland is your best option as an American (there is no open work permit with outland). You need to be either married or common law (have lived together for at least a year) in order for him to sponsor you.

You don't need a lawyer. However if you want one, expect to spend $3K to $5K.

If you are married then your husband would need to sponsor you for PR using the INLAND method, after which you'd get an Open Work Permit after approx 4 months time. The total processing time to get PR would be around 2 years.

If you instead applied OUTLAND, you would not get an OWP but would probably get PR much quicker (for many less than 1 year). Time depends if they processed it based on your current residency (in US or Canada) or your country of citizenship. While waiting for the PR app, you could stay in Canada as a visitor with your multiple-entry visa.

My question for the Inland method is:
1)If I come as Visitor , in that week only I do marriage. After that ,can I apply for an open work permit and inland application together?
